BANGSA SABAH WANTS SHAFIE APDAL AS NEXT CM; ELECTION PETITIONS GALORE

KOTA KINABALU: Sabah waits with bated breath to find out who the next Chief Minister will be after results for the 14th general elections ended in a 29:29:2 scorecard for the State.
Barisan Nasional and Musa Aman managed to win only 29 of the 60 seats while his closest rivals, the Parti Warisan Sabah-led opposition pact with DAP and PKR secured 29 seats as well, losing at least six State seats due to alleged ‘fraud’.
Parti Solidariti Tanah Airku (STAR) won two seats.
The last State result was announced at 3.30am with Junz Wong, the Parti Warisan vice president victorious in Tanjung Aru.
The victor is expected to be which side STAR opts to partner, but sources close to Parti Warisan said they have already received overtures from several BN winners indicating their desire to team up in a new government.
It is also understood that today, the Istana is expected to meet with leaders of Parti Warisan and BN before the Governor or TYT decides who to appoint as the Chief Minister.
Parti Warisan wrested Banggi, Tanjong Kapor, Karambunai Tanjong Aru, Petagas, Pantai Manis, Bongawan, Sindumin, Liawan, Melalap, Gum-Gum, Sekong, Karamunting, Tungku, Lahad Datu, Kunak, Senallang, Bugaya, Merotai and retained Moyog and Sulabayan.
STAR retained Bingkor and wrested Tambunan from the BN.
Umno and KDM partners, PBRS, PBS and UPKO won in the other seats.
After delay of the state voting results, Sabah Barisan Nasional must concede defeat and allow the due democratic process to take place, said Parti Warisan Sabah president Datuk Seri Shafie Apdal.

At a Press conference at his house in Golf View Garden here, Shafie Apdal who emerged victorious in the State seat of Senallang said they have verified information that they may have won enough seats in the state election but are questioning why the Election Commission has refused to sign off on it and announce the results.
“Based on information fed to us from our voting centres, we have won enough chairs. But the Borang 14 hasn’t been signed. I’ve been made to understand that Musa Aman has lost in Sungai Sibuga but the EC does not want to announce it,” he said.
Shafie said that recounts were ordered at seats even with a wide margin.
“Like in Kimanis, we were told Karim Bujang had won but they are recounting it. Recounts can only be asked for if the margin is below five percent, not like in this case where there is a wide margin,” he said.

Aside from Kimanis and Sungai Sibuga, seats that he believed were won by the opposition were in the Balung, Kemabong, and Keningau seat, which was being recounted, and the Kuamut state seat.
“We are definitely going to file several election petitions after consultation with our lawyers,” he added.
Shafie urged the state BN to admit defeat and announce the right results.
“Concede to the people’s voice. If you’re gone you must accept it. This is called a democratic process. They said they will accept it, but they haven’t. What time is it now?,” he said, adding that such incidents were being reported by their counterparts in Peninsula Malaysia as well.
Warisan has also won nine Parliament seats while its partners have won three each for a total of 15, while the BN could only secure 10.
